JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS DECEMBER STATISTICS
(Santa Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in December 2001 as compared to December 2000. In December 2001, the passenger traffic count was 571,876 a decrease of 5.7% when compared to the December 2000 passenger traffic count of 606,327.

In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of 2.9%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed a decrease of 56.8% when compared to the same levels recorded in December 2000.

Total aircraft operations decreased in December 2001 as compared to the same month in 2000. In December 2001, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 28,593, a decrease of 0.7% when compared to the December 2000 total aircraft operations count of 28,803.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 75% of the total aircraft operations during December 2001, showed an increase of 3.2% when compared to December 2000.

John Wayne Airport is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange.
