$2 million – A face lift on LAX Terminal 3 to enhance customer satisfaction

$7 million – The 2002 estimate for expansion of Long Beach Airport’s terminal. The size is being debated more than the cost. In the preferred EIR alternative, the  terminal would increase from the existing 56,320 to 102,850 square feet, add three more gates and additional aircraft parking spots.  At the December 20, 2005 City Council meeting, the City Manger was instructed to obtain costs for the project.

$22 million – An eight gate terminal completed in 1999 at Palm Springs airport.

$32 million - Another eight gate terminal at Palm Springs in the next three years.

$37 million – Spent to upgrade San Bernardino airport's 10,000 foot runway to handle A380 jumbo jets.

$300 million – To move the LAX south runway to improve safety and facilitate handling of A380 jets. ($328 million including all contracts, tax and gratuities)

$437 million – Major expansion of John Wayne airport, adding 68 percent more terminal space, six passenger gates, parking, etc.

$500 million – Community Benefit Agreement to airport neighboring cities El Segundo, Inglewood, Culver City and Lennox in partial compensation for accepting a compromise LAX remodel.

$1,500 million – Estimated cost at Ontario International for addition of another terminal, vehicle parking, and road and airfield improvements.

$2,400 million – SCAG estimate to enable three former military bases in the Inland Empire to serve 20 million passengers a year.

$5,500 million – High speed train for travelers from West Los Angeles and downtown LA to facilitate their use of Ontario Airport instead of nearby LAX. [

$7,603 million – 2003 assessed valuation of the entire city of El Segundo.

10,000 million – Recent low estimate for rail connections to a new remote San Diego County airport. Varies with destination.

$11,000 million – Frequently mentioned price tag for former Mayor Hahn’s plan to remodel LAX without increasing its capacity.

$15,000 million – Estimated cost of former Mayor Riordan’s plan to expand LAX to handle 100 million annual passengers with a new terminal, more cargo facilities, a light-rail station, extended runways and new access roads.

$15,000 million – Chicago's recent estimated cost for reconfiguring and expanding O’Hare airport with longer and wider runways and taxiways, three new terminals and parking spaces for oversize jets and passenger jet bridges.
